One popular thought experiment in some corners of the internet is speculating what kind of team a fictional character not part of the franchise may have to reflect themselves both internally or externally. That said, here's a thread for people to post their speculations on what team a character may have if in the Pokemon world (and if what superpowers they had were taken away I guess).
Rules:
- Teams must be based on either elements of their design, character background or personality with reasons given.
- Adding the moveset to further reflect this is encouraged, but not necessary.
- Teams can't contain more than one legendary and/or mythical Pokemon, as well as one Ultra Beast.
- No Dynamax/Gigantamax .
Since this is a DB forum, I'll start off with ones for Goku and Vegeta to give an idea of how the thread works.
Son Goku
Infernape - Pretty obvious as it's the Sun Wukong Pokemon and has a lot of fighting moves, plus its regular ability strengthening Fire type moves when low on health sounds a lot like Galu's resolve in more modern material.
Rayquaza - Closest Pokemon visually to Shenlong, as well as the Ryu-ken. Could potentially go with its Mega, but the more Dragon Ball-esque orbs around it seem more fitting to reserve for Piccolo.
Lucario - Master of aura (Ki). Its Aura Sphere is also launched like a Kamehameha in the anime and both are voiced by Sean Schemmel in the dub.
Mega Ampharos - Along with the hairstyle being long like that of SS3 and having some cloud elements similar to the Kinto'Un, the Pokedex constantly talks about the brightness of the light generated by Ampharos' tail, much like how Goku used the light energy of SSJ to counter Yakon.
Snorlax - Definitely the easiest to go with Goku's big appetite.
Darmanitan - Along with furthering the primate connection, Darmanitan's Zen Mode also embodies the more mental and calm aspects of Goku's strength such as his use of telekinesis in the anime or Ultra Instinct.
Vegeta
Incineroar - Pokedex describes it as egotistical, not one to listen to orders and hates fighting weak opponents and seeks out opponents that'll truly test it. Pretty much a simplified summary of Vegeta's whole character throughout most of the Cell Arc.
Primeape - Short, angry monkey with similarly shaped eyes, 'nuff said.
Nidoking - Short, royal Pokemon that not only has a colour scheme to compliment Vegeta's aura, but Nidoqueen has one to compliment Bulma's association with blue (and I suppose Nidoking is also associated with her manga hair and Trunks' hair in general pre-Super).
Buzzwole - Has abnormally swollen muscles just like Grade 2.
Giratina (Altered forme) - Giratina is classified as the Renegade Pokemon, with Vegeta very much being the renegade member of the Dragon Team from the Freeza Arc until the early Boo Arc.
Mega Gyarados - Along with it being a very aggressive Pokemon, its Mold Breaker ability is one of the closest equivalents ability-wise to Spirit Fission.
