I read this as "Kenshi" and found it more believable than your story.

Does that explain why a lot of teenagers female still looks like bunch of 10 year old in majority of anime?

Now :autism has some SERIOUS DIRT.

On topic though, this comes off as pretty surprising, though considering Watsuki has beeen riding off the coattails of his one success for about 2 decades, it's not as if some sort of insanity was avoidable. Looks like the cashgrab sequel is over before it really began.

Inb4 he makes a light novel called "The Everyday life of a prison paedophile" that's still less deviant than most other LN out there.

The Tokyo Public Prosecutors Office filed a summary indictment against 47-year-old manga creator Nobuhiro Watsuki (real name Nobuhiro Nishiwaki) for simple possession of child pornography on Tuesday. On the same day, the Tokyo Summary Court ordered Watsuki to pay a fine of 200,000 yen (about US$1,900).

According to the Public Prosecutors Office, Watsuki possessed multiple DVDs with videos of nude girls in their early teens and other materials last October. Authorities were searching Watsuki's home as part of a different investigation, which linked him to the purchase of DVDs with child pornography. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police then found the DVDs at Watsuki's office in Tokyo.

The police charged Watsuki in November for possessing the pornographic videos since July 2015. In his deposition, Watsuki had said that he "liked girls in late elementary school to around the second year of middle school."

Possession of child pornography in Japan can lead to imprisonment for up to one year, a fine of up to 1 million yen (about US$8,800), or both.

Watsuki is best known as the creator of the Rurouni Kenshin manga. The manga ran from 1994 to 1999 in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and Shueishapublished over 60 million copies of the manga's compiled book volumes. The manga inspired an anime series that ran from 1996 to 1998, as well as films and original video anime projects.

The manga also inspired a live-action film trilogy from 2012 to 2014, with a new film reportedly in the works last year. Most recently, Watsuki and his novelist wife/story collaborator Kaoru Kurosaki launched the Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Arc (Rurouni Kenshin, Meiji Kenkaku Romantan: Hokkaido-hen) in Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine in September. Viz was simultaneously publishing the manga in English. However, Shueisha announced after police filed charges against Watsuki that this manga was going on hiatus.

Yah

Read above

Also, is this kind of thing even considered a big deal in Japan? Isn't the age of consent 14? And a ridiculous number of characters involved in sexualised situations are kids.

If you read the kotaku article the sentence is a year in prison or 9,000 dollars, sometimes both.

I meant socially. Drug possession can carry a sentence, but society doesn't generally consider a big deal.

If it was considered a big deal I doubt he'd get off with an 8,000 dollar fine.

My point was, you can't know the social stigma just from a fine, yet you just repeated that he got a fine of "x" dollars.

If I go to Florida and smoke weed I could easily end up in prison for a decade, yet in reality from what I've read there isn't much social stigma really, apart from in professional circles.

Basically, I wonder if in 4 years anyone will really care about this in Japan or if it will easily be forgotten, similar to Kate Moss being a cokehead.

It's Japan, of course it's considered a big deal.

Public shame is always a big deal

People who indulge in such depravity do not deserve their testicles.
