Who killed Frieza and King Cold in Cell's timeline?

It is a bit confusing to me what happened in Cell's timeline. When Cell recalls how he obtained his cells, it is stated that he got King Cold and Frieza's cells from Trunks slaying them. This would imply that a trunks from the future traveled back in this timeline, gave Goku his medication and so forth. So logically the events should play out as they did up to the android arc at least with 17,18 being as strong as the main timeline with 19,20 and 16 being created.

Yet, the androids are still homicidal maniacs in this timeline despite being peaceful in the main timeline. Cell, comments that Vegeta is much stronger in this timeline (after escaping Piccolo), Cell is surprised that Goku is still alive at this time and he does not know who android 16. Basically the timeline matches that of Trunk's future with the only different being that he defeats the andriod via a remote he got from the past and is killed by Cell.

So can someone possibly explain this mess because it is confusing?

I don't think it was ever mentioned that Trunks killed them in that timeline. All Cell says is that there was no need for them to take cells from Trunks. He was referring to Trunks as a baby.

In the manga when Cell is retelling how he obtained the cells of the warriors that comprise him, two pictures are shown of Frieza and King Cold deaths at the hand of trunks. This again is repeated over in DB Kai with him stating outright that he obtained the cells of King Cold and Frieza from Trunks killing them. However, if we are lead to believe that Trunks did kill them and then told the Z-senshi about the androids then why does the event of this timeline still turn out very much like that of Future Trunks timeline?

Evidence to support the mirror similarity between F. Trunks timeline and Cell are the following:

1. Android 16 does not exist in Cell's timeline

2. Androids are still evil with the world still being post apocalyptic

3. Cell states that the vegeta in the main timeline is stronger than the one from his timeline

4. Cell is surprised to find out that Goku is alive at this time

5. Time machine and trunks exist.

Outside of that one event, everything mirrors that of F. Trunks timeline.
